Happy New Year!

New year, new beginnings . . . at least that's the hope. In looking ahead at 2012, Ben and I have some ideas for living smaller, simpler, smarter. As our lives become more hectic, as the choices we face become more complex, as the world seems simultaneously more vast and ever-so-tiny, sometimes the largest impact can come from the smallest acts. That pot of minestrone soup, made from scratch with vegetables from your garden, can be an awesome comfort during a crazy day. Walking instead of driving, buying from a farmers' market instead of the grocery store, planting and tending your own cutting garden. Lost pleasures.

Mindfulness isn't just a Zen concept. Mindful living can happen in lots of ways. On our site, we hope to share some ideas for making your home and lives a little greener, a little less frenetic, a little more satisfying. Here's to 2012!
